KSL TV decided to dump the show The New Normal that features a gay couple seeking a surrogate mother, for “explicit” content. LGBT advocates are calling out the NBC affiliate owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for censorship with a rally Wednesday.---

Concert Review: Yeasayer at In the Venue

With their small, yet growing, catalog that, in a decade or so, will be thought of as progressive, resourceful and irresistible, Yeasayer demonstrated what all the parts of an incredible performance look like when it all comes together. The Liver-Eating Johnson of indie music -- especially of moody dance-rock -- Yeasayer put on such a performance that one needn't see it all (or one could miss the first 25 minutes, like me) and still be blown away by how insanely good they are.

On a rare cool August evening, with a gentle breeze making its way through the city, I found myself at Kilby Court with some unexpected surprises. --- For an unknown reason, probably for the simple idea that they wanted to have some fun, it was Cowboys & Indians night at the all-ages venue, in which your ticket price was comped down to cheap if you dressed up -- which made for an interesting setting at the bonfire until it was put out way too quickly.

Tuesday night, the Utah Film Center is presenting a free screening of Watershed: A New Water Ethic for the New West, with a panel discussion with the film’s creator afterwards.--- The 55-minute documentary takes a look at the threats endangering the West’s great Colorado River and provides solutions to the damming and diversions that threaten to turn the once-mighty river into trickle of its former self.
