Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Community Gardens are trying to get the word out about local community gardens and plant the seed in the minds of would-be community gardeners on how to start their own neighborhood plots at two open house meetings, Thursday and Saturday.---
A federal subsidy that would funnel $50 million to the oil-shale-development industry -- which is still not commercially viable, and may not be for decades -- has caused watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense to call the subsidy a boondoggle that harkens back to billions of subsidies the government made in the ‘70s and ‘80s that failed to return anything back to taxpayers.---
Tomorrow at lunch time at the S J Quinney College of Law, a man who spent 24 years incarcerated in Missouri for a murder he was eventually exonerated of will speak about his experiences.--- The presentation, which begins at 12.15 p.m., is being put on by the Utah Student Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and will feature Darryl Burton, who was convicted of murder in the early 1980's and exonerated in 2008.
