ChefDance 2013

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival kicks off today. And with it, ChefDance 2013 fires up the stoves, beginning tomorrow evening. ---
Founded by Park City's Kenny Griswold and co-founder Mimi Kim, ChefDance is a culinary food festival within the confines of the Sundance Film Festival. It was one of the original "pop-up" restaurants.
Each year since 2004, ChefDance has invited celebrity chefs and guests to celebrate the culinary arts in the space on Park City's Main Street that formerly housed Harry-O's. For five consecutive nights, the space is turned into a full-blown restaurant and kitchen, and ChefDance dinners are some of the most coveted tickets of the festival.
Past ChefDance guest chefs include Rocco DiSpirito, Todd English, Govind Armstrong, Michelle Bernstein, Nancy Silverton, Tyler Florence, Donatella Arpaia, and many others.
This year's guest-chef lineup features Whitney Miller (Fox's Masterchef), Javier Plascencia (Mision 19), Shawn McClain (Esquire Chef of the Year), Marcel Vigneron (Bravo's Top Chef), and Utah's own Shawn Armstrong (Executive Chef at Montage Deer Valley).
In addition to the fine food, I also always look forward to the creative boutique cocktails crafted by San Diego's Snake Oil Cocktail Co.
ChefDance is also the site of Sundance movie-premiere parties, which this year includes Sound City (directed by Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl), Blue Caprice, Breathe In and C.O.G.
Last year at ChefDance, I found myself seated at a table with Marc Maron (WTF podcast) and actress Carol Kane. This year, I'm hoping Dave Grohl brings his drums or guitar!
Along with providing a fun party and great food, ChefDance also strives to give back to the community, donating of portion of proceeds to the nonprofit Feeding America.
