Dear GYA, It's sooo stupid that I'm not allowed to tryout for cheerleading this year because I have more than 18 unexcused absences! Gosh, principal Peterschmidt is such an ass. He doesn't understand that 18 days is only. like, what--a week or something? It's not even that many days. Ugh, since I'm probably not going to class today, anything good happening?  Micha Blossom, Senior---

Micha, No one should have to learn about consequences at the tender age of 17. As we all know, high school is supposed to prepare you for the real world, not bog you down with silly rules and repercussions. Well, here are some options for your well-deserved day-off:

Americana indie-band Deer Tick will be at Urban Lounge this evening. Max Pain & the Groovies will be opening up. Tickets are $20 at the door. The show starts at 9.

At The Shred Shed, metal bands (to say the least) Author and Punisher, Cicadas and Worst Friends will be performing. The show starts at 9 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Andrew McMahon (formerly of Jack's Mannequin & Something Corporate) will be onstage at In The Venue this evening. Tickets are $28 day of. The show starts at 8.
