Glad You Asked: Easter Weekend Edition

Dear GYA, AT&T just released a study showing adults text while driving way more than teenagers. But, let's be honest here: we all know adults are excellent drivers. I've been wheeling around for nearly two decades now and everyone knows I rule at driving. Anything happening this weekend that ... hold on, I gotta make a left ... is really awesome? - Wendy Dremonton, Sandy---

Wendy, here are a few things worth checking out once you put your phone down. Let's start with Friday's events:

- The 5th Annual Nerd Night will be be going down at Kafeneio Cafe tonight at 6. For more info, click on the link. 

- The Complex will be hosting the Elite Fight Night, featuring 12 rounds of MMA action plus the main event, Craig Ross vs Jeremiah Guzman. The fight starts at 7. Tickets are $25. 

- Indie band Fictionist will be onstage at Velour, and Mideau and Technicolor will open things up. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8. 

- Local dubstep violinist Lindsey Stirling will be at In The Venue tonight at 8. Tickets are $23.

- Patterson Hood (of Drive By Truckers) will be at The State Room this evening. Doors open at 8. Tickets are $25. 

- Frat-reggae band Rebelution will be at The Depot. J Boog and Hot Rain wil open things up. Doors are at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. 

- At Urban Lounge, check out the indie band The Joy Formidable. Fort Lean is also on the bill. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $18.  


Saturday's Events

- Dub reggae band Afro Omega and Illuminati Congo will be onstage at Urban Lounge. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8. 

- Loveline hosts Adam Corolla and Dr. Drew will be performing at Kingsbury Hall this evening. Tickets are $30 to $50. 

- The Holi Festival of Colors will be going down at the Krishna Temple today.  

- R&B singer Janiva Magness will be at the Park City Egyptian Theatre tonight. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $15 to $25. 

- Country singer Kip Moore will be at The Depot. The Wild Feathers are also on the bill. Tickets are $25.

- Slow-core rock band Low will be at Velour tonight. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $20.  

- Toots and The Maytals will be performing for free up at Canyons Resort. The shows starts at 3 p.m.

- In all things roller derby, the Bonneville Bone Crushers will be facing off with the Happy Valley Derby Darlins at the Derby Depot. The bout starts at 7 p.m. 


Sunday's events:  

- Five-piece indie band Toubab Krewe will be onstage at The State Room. Holy Water Buffalo will open things up. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18. 

- Kilby Court will be featuring indie bands Miracles of Modern Science, Jack & The Giant and Polytype, beginning at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $7 p.m. 

- For some afternoon EDM music, checkout Jesse Walker's Bunny Hop at The Garage, starting at 1 p.m.
