Glad You Asked: Weekend To-Dos

Dear GYA, Yes, it is incredibly epic that I did the splits between two moving trucks. But, you should know that this isn't that big of a deal; I'm always doing the splits (also known as Van Damming). In fact, this morning, I Van Dammed on two longboards to a Kohls, and now I'm writing this from my phone while Van Damming up an escalator. Anything happening this weekend that I can Van Damme? Jean-Claude Van Damme--- 

Jean Claude, Have you ever considered Van Damming between two Segways? Or even better, maybe between two sharks? Here's what's up for this weekend, starting with Friday's events: 

Heavy-metal band Holy Grail will be at Urban Lounge tonight. Merlin's Beard, Mister Richter are also on the bill. The show starts at 9. Tickets are $12.

Funk and soul producers RJD2 and Blockhead will be at The Depot this evening. The show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $26.    

The Westerner will hosting a Bikini Bull Riding Competition tonight at 10. Admission is free. The winner walks away with $200.  

Legendary rock band Tower of Power will be at The Egyptian Theatre in Park City tonight. The show starts at 8. Tickets start at $39.  

With a win under their belt at last, the Utah Jazz will be looking to continue the momentum tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off is at 7. Tickets start at $10.  

Local band Hectic Hobo will be at The Shred Shed. Tickets are $7. The show starts at 7 p.m.


Saturday's events:  

Portland-based folk band Blitzen Trapper will be at The State Room this evening. The Alialujah Choir is also performing. The show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $25. 

The House Guests will be throwing an EP Release Party at Kilby Court. Anthony Stafford and The Fence will open up. Tickets are $6. The show starts at 7 p.m.  

The Shred Shed will be hosting a night of local hip-hop with rappers Pat Maine, Burnell Washburn, A Rodge, Black Lion and Only Sun. The show starts at 7. Tickets are $10. 

At the Maverik Center, the Utah Grizzlies will be facing off with the Colorado Eagles, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $12.


Sunday's events:  

DJ Street Jesus will be at Bourbon House tonight for Funk and Soul Night. The music starts at 9. There's no cover.

Rapper crew Turquoise Jeep will be at Urban Lounge, starting at 9 p.m.  DJ Matty Mo is also on the bill. Tickets are $10. 

The play 33 Variations will be going down at The Leonardo today at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22.
