Brent Ward, Prosecutor in Johnson Case, Wants To Be AG

According to the Utah GOP's website, Brent Ward, a senior prosecutor in Utah's U. S. Attorney's Office, is one of three Republicans seeking the post of attorney general. That's the same Brent Ward whose attempted deal with Jeremy Johnson ultimately led to John Swallow's resignation.---
Ward, along with Sean Reyes, whom Swallow defeated in the primary race for AG, and attorney Brett Rawson, a partner in the law firm that defends Marc Session Jenson (who was convicted of securities fraud in 2009 and courted Swallow and his predecessor, Mark Shurtleff, at a posh California resort that summer, when Swallow was working as a fundraiser for then-AG Mark Shurtleff), have all put themselves forward as being interested in the post.
Ward was the subject of a recent City Weekly news story, Porn Pals, which looked at his longstanding ties with anti-porn crusader John Harmer, and his relationship with Swallow. City Weekly obtained several e-mails through a record request to the AG's Office that showed that Swallow and Harmer were interested in bringing Ward to Utah. Ward himself wanted to return to his home state, where he had been U.S Attorney, prior to moving to Washington, D.C.
According to a report prepared by Jeremy Johnson’s private investigator, which he sent to Utah Gov. Gary Herbert in June 2013 and City Weekly accessed through a records request, Swallow made a deal with Ward upon the latter’s return to Utah.
Ward "had ambitions of running for Utah Attorney
General. John Swallow told Mr. Johnson that he met with Brent Ward
around this time and promised him a good job in the Utah Attorney
General’s office in exchange for Mr. Ward dropping out of the race and
supporting Mr. Swallow.”
On Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Larry Miller conference center in Sandy, there will be a vote to select three names to be forwarded to Gov. Gary Herbert, who has to decide who will replace Swallow as AG.
