Glad You Asked: Weekend To-Dos

Dear GYA, Graduating college was a pretty big achievement in my life, sure. But nothing fills my soul with a sense of real purpose and accomplishment more than my monthly arguments with my student-loan officer. I look forward to these chats because whenever she reminds me that my student loans will haunt me for as long as I live, I laugh and remind her that I will happily perish in a horrible helicopter explosion before paying her single cent.--- Anything happening extravagantly this weekend, since I stopped paying my student loans? - Miranda Stegals, University of Utah, Class of 2006

Miranda, I also avoid paying my student loans by covertly throwing the notices in the trash.So far, it seems to be working. Here's what's up for this weekend, starting with Friday's events: 

Local band Eagle Twin will be at the Shred Shed tonight. INVDRS and La Verkin are also on the bill. Doors are at 7. Expect a cover. 

Prov-based indie band Allred will be at Kilby Court this evening. Larusso, Tate McCallum-Law, Alan Hanson and Mason Jones are also performing. The show starts at 7. Tickets are $8.

Rapper Jake Miller will be at The Complex. Air Dubai and Action Item will warm it up. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.  

Singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy will be at Kingsbury Hall tonight. Tickets are $35. The show starts at 7:30. 


Saturday's events:  

Local band The North Valley will be onstage at Urban Lounge. The Future Of The Ghost, Wildcat Strike and Breakers are also on the bill. Tickets are $3. The doors open at 8 p.m. 

At the Maverik Center, the Utah Grizzlies will be taking on the Alaska Aces tonight at 7. Tickets start at $12. 

The Winters Farmers Market will be going down at the Rio Grande Museum today at 10 a.m. Admission is free.   

Metro Bar will be throwing a MLS Cup Final viewing party today at 1 p.m. Admission is free.  

The Utah Jazz are at home taking on the Sacramento Kings tonight at 7. 


Sunday's events:  

The December Craft Sabbath will be going down at the downtown Main Library today at 1 p.m. Admission is free. 

Deer Valley is hosting its annual Celebrity Ski Fest all day today. Admission is free. Click the link for details.  

The Utah Winter Faire will be happening at the Utah State Fairgrounds today at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5.
