Hey, gang. So, as of this Wednesday, Jan. 1, this blog officially turns six! --- Candidly speaking, I'm a little taken back that it's reached this point; a lot of the blogs you see from hardcore writers who throw everything they've got into the product barely make it to five years, so I'm awestruck that this blog has made it to this mark.Wait, hold on, gotta find ... ah, there we go, a candle.

In previous years. I've talked about the survival of blogs and how they tend to die off quickly because of the author being unable to continue writing, or the content just not being as fulfilling as they had planned, or various other reasons that cause any blog under a single title to disappear into the oceans of dead Tumblr links and faded Facebook fan pages. But the honest truth behind this blog is that I owe two very specific entities for this kind of longevity. The first being City Weekly and its staff for trusting in the content and allowing it to flourish as it has over the years, and the second to the readership -- yes, you, the person reading this -- because if it weren't for all of you coming by to read it and check out all the awesome stuff we have in this state, it wouldn't have gone past year four. So, thank you for keeping this blog going and checking out new stuff. If you want to give me grief or suggest something, the best way to do so is at the e-mail: yellatgavin (at) gmail (dot) com.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, since the next couple of weeks only have a few things. Geek Show Movie Night hits Brewvies on Sunday with Batman Returns and Bad Santa; Monday. the Salt City Slam returns to Weller Book Works, featuring Shae Sveniker; of course, the Downtown Alliance will be throwing EVE parties all the way until the new year, so check out its website for more. On Thursday, Jan. 9, the BBoy Federation will have their first formal performance in a venue with They Reminisce at the Rose Wagner; and Jan. 11 marks the 14th Annual SLUG Games at Snowbasin. That's all for now; as for the next year, we'll see what happens.
