We bid February goodbye as quickly as we possibly could and dive head first into March's cavalcade of new music, but first we look back at a few remaining releases from this past month. --- We're going to start with some shameless pandering for a raise, because Spork have a brand new album out. For those of you unaware, this is the two-piece band fronted by City Weekly's own Bill Frost, along with drummer CJ who is probably thankful he's not playing "All Out Of Love" for the 5,000th time as a touring drummer for Air Supply. Six years have passed since their last album, Ocho Destructo, hit the public in early 2008, and they've just been playing off-and-on as scheduling permitted since. Apparently that was enough time to get material together for a brand new album as they released 2.O earlier this week, filled with the kind of high-voltage stoner rock you could only get from a badass drummer and the shredding satirical front-man. It's totally worth checking out if you're a rock fan. You can snag a copy for $8 off their Bandcamp page.

Moving along to a collaboration, remember that Farrell fest we promoted a few weeks back? You must have, you read Gavin's Underground regularly, right? RIGHT!? Anyway, the bands who performed during that fundraising festival at Diabolical Records have put out an album called Riffs For Randall to further raising funds for Randall Farrell. This is an awesome album filled with music from Baby Ghosts, Jawwzz!!, Chalk, Fossill Arms, Temples, Regal Beast, Bat Manors and more making up what could be considered a damn fine compilation of pop/punk and DIY rock in Utah today. Bonus: it only costs $2 on Bandcamp. You know you wanna download it!

Speaking of pop, Officer Jenny has a brand new album out! The Stephen Cope project has quite the discography, trying to list it all without sounding repetitive in this format would be insulting, just trust us that he's got a lot of music you should be checking out. The latest release is Misc. #2: Paul Is Dead. Paul Remains Dead., which is a nice Beatles nod but more importantly serves as a sequel to his August 2013 album Misc. #1: Faintly Macabre. Much like #1, this is a collection of works that he recorded and probably thought weren't good enough to make his official full-length from 2013, The Gods Must Be Giddy, a Gaggle of Unexceptional Songs Written for Unexceptional People. You can snag the 16-track album for a mere $4 off his Bandcamp page.

Getting to release shows, we start tonight with the debut album from Year Of The Wolf. The five-piece thrash metal band out of SLC have been kicking ass around the valley for nearly three years, originally a three piece consisting of Gunner Bandura, Chris Drelinger and Gnarley Karley before picking up members Stevil and Lizzard Mayhem over the past year. The band released a demo back in 2012 that is super hard to come across, but that's fine because their debut self-titled album comes out tonight! You can catch them playing the release show at Burt's Tiki Lounge along with Drunk As Shit, just $6 starting at 8 p.m. If you can't make that show, there's an all-ages release show at The Heavy Metal Shop on Saturday starting at 5 p.m.

Speaking of Saturday, we got one more show for you over at Diabolical Records where we'll see the debut release from Foster Body. The band (seen above, courtesy of their Facebook) got their start in late 2012 playing their own brand of punk and post-punk combined to create a very unique show. Beyond that they've kept a very low profile, not doing many interviews and playing select shows as to not over-saturate themselves. But that's probably going to change now that their debut album, Landcapes, is officially on the market. You can catch them Saturday night and snag their debut cassette (or purchase it for $5 on Bandcamp), along with The Circulars, Fossil Arms and Discoid A. Show kicks off at 7 p.m.
