At this Sunday's Taste of the Wasatch (TOW), a food and wine extravaganza and fundraiser hosted by Solitude Resort to help fight hunger in Utah, you'll see some new wines that aren't the usual suspects. As always, I will emcee the event.

I'm looking forward to sampling from the dozens of wines and beers being poured, including some new ones. And, this year, a few winemakers are attending the event, too, a new addition to TOW.

Here are a couple of examples of wines and winery folk that will be at TOW - represented in Utah by Francis Fecteau of Libation, Inc.

Megan Mason of Mason Cellars - a Sauvignon Blanc specialist - is launching a new Merlot called 60 North.

If you've ever enjoyed an exotic wine like Chateau Musar, from Ghazir, Lebanon or Quinta do Crasto, made in Portugal's Douro Valley, then you've done so courtesy of Broadbent Imports.

Broadbent is an old-timey importer/distributor of all sorts of wine exotica, and Gregg Perkins of Broadbent Imports will be on hand to pour some of his wines and chat with interested TOW attendees about them.

Oh, an added bonus: Yours truly has been invited to sit in with the Daniel Day Trio, who'll be providing live tunes for the afternoon. I'm bringing a guitar, and might just show up with a ukulele, to boot. This isn't a threat, but rumor has it I'll be joining Dan and his gang for a unique rendition of "Free Bird."

Remember, 100% of the proceeds from Taste of the Nation go directly to support hunger relief efforts and organizations right here in our community. To purchase tickets, click here

See you Sunday!
