Reviews: Frank, Life of Crime, November Man and more

Here's a look at our reviews of the offerings on the traditionally-slow Labor Day movie weekend.
Scott Renshaw finds little excitement and a lot of generic brutality in the Pierce Brosnan-led thriller The November Man (pictured). The film biography of Mexican film comedian Cantinflas, meanwhile, takes a frustrating detour from its main subject, but the oddball comedy Frank uses its detour from indie-film quirkiness for a surprisingly effective swipe at celebrating artistic madness.
Danny Bowes finds pleasant crime-caper shenanigans and little more in Life of Crime, the kinda-sort-of-a-prequel to Jackie Brown.
In this week's feature, Scott Renshaw takes a nostalgic look at this weekend's 30th anniversary re-release of Ghostbusters.
Also opening this week, with no screenings for media: the fact-based underdog Kentucky Derby drama 50 to 1, and the found-footage "horror beneath the streets of Paris" tale As Above, So Below.
