Greetings, music fans. There's a lot of great music coming out today, so without further ado, let's get to the tunes. The debut album from Anamai—the Toronto experimental-folk duo of Anna Mayberry and David Psutka—is one I know I'm going to have to spend more time with; between its ethereal heaviness and many layers, there are a lot of elements to absorb.
Also out this week is new stuff from Toronto metal band Cancer Bats, London noise-pop band Evans the Death, Norwegian metal act Enslaved, and Virginia soul singer-songwriter Matthew E. White—he wrote "Tranquility" (below) for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Anamai, Sallow
"Lucia"
Cancer Bats, Searching for Zero
"Arsenic in the Year of the Snake"
Enslaved, In Times
"One Thousand Years of Rain"
Evans the Death, Expect Delays
Matthew E. White, Fresh Blood
"Tranquility"
