Winemaker Roberto Anselmi has long been known as an Italian trend-bucker, and his Anselmi San Vincenzo ($15.99) - made in Veneto's Soave region - is no exception.

The estate-grown, hand-picked grapes (80% Garganega, 10% Chardonnay and 10%Sauvignon Blanc) from Monteforte are de-stemmed before undergoing cold maceration and a soft pneumatic press. After the cold maceration, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation.

Anselmi matures in steel vats for six months, with regular battonage. The wine spends another three months aging in the bottle for being released to the public.

The result is a fruit-forward wine that is light straw colored and beautifully perfumed, with abundant honey, tangerine, and apricot notes - a perennial favorite Italian white at our house.

Try Anselmi San Vincenzo with any number of warm weather summertime dishes. It's extremely versatile and pairs with an array of foods, from asparagus risotto and chicken piccata to potato salad, grilled veggies and fish.
