Deer Crash Danger Up

Last summer I was heading to Idaho with a friend for a gathering of writers. As we came up a hill late at night, the bright eyes of half a dozen frozen deer reflecting back our headlights popped into view.

Entertainment Is Dead Podcast

Local entertainment podcast will be gaming for a cause.
This weekend, we'll have an epic gaming experience that will all benefit a good cause. The local gaming and culture podcast Entertainment Is Dead will be hosting Gaming For A Cause, a 24-hour live streaming gaming session featuring the show's hosts and a plethora of local talent, who will be dropping by starting at 7 p.m.

Mysterious street poster campaign calls for SLCPD chief's return
On the corner of 1300 South and West Temple, in front of a 7-Eleven convenience store, a large white poster in the form of a police badge proclaims: "Bring Back Burbank." The call to reinstate former Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank by unknown individuals with a taste for the artfully dramatic comes as a surprise, of sorts, to former Chief Burbank.

The September doldrums offers some suspense to go with a unique animated experience. The film adaptation of the faith-based best-seller 90 Minutes in Heaven (pictured) actually feels more like a real movie than a lecture—but that doesn't mean it's a good movie.

Fall is about to hit, and with it will be the 2015-2016 performing arts season, The usual suspects are preparing for all sorts of awesome fun, but a lot of the smaller and independent companies around the state are gearing up to release their own shows in places you wouldn't likely see them otherwise. Take, for example, Porridge For Goldilocks, an interdisciplinary performance group who mesh together music, dance and other artistic disciplines into fantastic one-off performances.
