Browsing the latest artistic hotspot during the last Gallery Stroll of 2015.
Every year, rather than waiting until just before Christmas, the Salt Lake Gallery Stroll bumps the December event up to the first Friday of the month. Often you're looking at the same show you saw the previous month, as there's little turnaround for many galleries to change their works in two weeks' time, or you're getting holiday boutiques where multiple artists sell their goods very quickly.
Brand new music from Angel Magic, Candy's River House, Soft Limbs and more.
We took some time off for the holiday last week, but we’re back in the thick of things as we look over the remaining albums of 2016. We’ll start with the online releases, and the first on the list comes from Angel Magic.
On the corner of 9th & 9th, the phrase "I want love" is scrawled in large black letters on a mural. When I see those letters, I think of an inmate in his mid-20s in the Utah state prison.

A look into the patterned artwork of the SLC artist.
When I'm out browsing the city or going off to Gallery Stroll, there's often artwork I see on the walls of galleries I don't get a chance to talk about. It's primarily material I'll see in group exhibitions, where said artist has added one or two works from their collection to be displayed, helping add to the ambiance of the evening.
Month before taking office, mayor-elect asks 34 employees to resign and wins some early pay
On Monday, the former state legislator asked 34 city employees to resign. A day later, the City Council voted to give Biskupski and select members of her staff a stipend to help bankroll her transition to the city's top job.
With the U.S. dollar getting stronger against the Euro, wines from Europe are becoming a little more affordable. One bargain from France is Château du Juge Bordeaux ($11.99).
Chatting with the first comedian who hit the new Wiseguys downtown stage.
Last month we saw the return of Wiseguys to downtown SLC, taking up residence in the Gateway Mall as a spot to revive the area and solidify itself as a major hotspot once again for standup comedy. The inaugural show featured Marcus, Guy Seidel and Spencer King, along with the evening's host and first comedian to take the new stage, Eric Ripley.
