As Oscar Night looms, another nominee for Best Foreign Language Feature arrives, along with a heist thriller, supernatural fantasy and underdog sports drama.

Jordan's Foreign Language Oscar nominee Theeb includes some powerful moments in its circa-1916 story about a Bedouin boy trying to survive, though it misses opportunities to provide more context for global-scale conflict vs. local loyalties.

Eric D. Snider mocks the expensive but cheap-looking fantasy of Gods of Egypt (pictured), and laments the melodramatic story and weak performances in the bipolar-characters-in-love story Touched With Fire.

MaryAnn Johanson wonders what happened to the risk-taking sensibility of director John Hillcoat in the forgettable heist drama Triple 9.

In this week's feature review, Eddie the Eagle proves uninspired in hitting every "inspirational sports movie" bullet point.
