Local Releases: Getting Batty With Tera

Brand new albums from Tera Vega, Vitaé, Batty Blue and more.
We've got three release shows for you this weekend, all related to rock in some fashion. But first, we've got some online releases you really should check out.

Movie Reviews: Central Intelligence, Finding Dory, Dark Horse, Genius, Raiders!

Two documentaries about improbable underdogs come to Utah theaters this week, along with the return of a Pixar favorite and an effective new comedy team. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart (pictured) elevate the buddy action comedy of Central Intelligence with their tremendous chemistry in a tale of guys making peace with the high-school persona that used to be their identity.

The Salt Lake Soundcheck - Part 2

A chat with the show's current host, Corky.
The Salt Lake Soundcheck on KBER has been kicking ass promoting local music. It's especially valuable when many local radio stations have seemingly given up on giving locals any kind of attention, unless it's a one-off spot once a week or the band is nationally recognized.

Wine Wednesday: A Remarkable Rosé

Winemakers and Matthiasson Winery owners Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson say that "Winemaking for us is a natural extension of farming, and most of our grapes come from the seven vineyards that we farm in Napa and Sonoma. We love to explore classical expressions of different varieties, some well-known like Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon, and some rare like Ribolla Gialla or Refosco Dal Peduncula Rosso.

Crafty Beer Girls

Chatting with the duo behind the local beer blog.
The beer culture in Utah has become solid as mahogany, branching off into various directions and also carrying with it a lot of splinters. There's about 20 different levels of beer crafting in this state, from the professionals who are trying new things all the way down to your Uncle Jim who grows his own hops next to the utility shed, all striving to create a better-tasting beer than the 3.2% we've been given.

Crucialfest 6

Catching up with Jarom Bischoff before the official festival kickoff.
It's been six years since the first Crucialfest. At the time of that original event, set in Liberty Park with multiple stages of local rock and metal bands, many of us in media and local music thought it would only be a one-time deal.

In The Loop: 6/11/16. Summer Laziness Dripping Slowly

Cool events for you to check out from June 12-25.
Hello to all you hammock-sitting, lemonade-sipping, music-listening, breeze-enjoying, midday-snoozing, avenue-walking,  company-keeping, enjoying-the-hell-out-of-lazy-summers enthusiasts! Aside from doing some personal writing and enjoying the latest RPGs to come to the PS4, my summer days so far have been a treat, as I'm doing little to nothing major or important—a rarity that I haven't had a chance to personally experience in over five years.
