The Pipeline: Blackwood Crossing

We get a chance to preview the newest title from PaperSeven.
There's something to be said for story-adventure games. A lot of them are quite good when you get invested in what you're viewing, and they no longer just become a story that you interact with, but a quest you need to see resolved.

Anime Happy Hour

The hosts of the local anime podcast gush about their love for anime
These are great times to be an anime fan. Tons of content is being produced overseas and exported to the states through companies like Funimation and CrunchyRoll, so it's only natural that the audience for it would be growing, even if you only end up liking one particular show.

State capitol rally defends diversity in Utah

A bipartisan lineup of elected officials, along with community religious and ethnic leaders, spoke at an event at the state capitol Wednesday morning, proclaiming support for diversity in Utah. Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams, who organized the event, alluded to its connection to post-election anxiety, without ever specifically identifying President-Elect Donald Trump.

Rules Don't Apply, The Eagle Huntress
The traditionally busy Thanksgiving weekend features a full slate of Disney animation, historical drama, a psychological thriller and a feel-good documentary. Disney's Moana (pictured) may stick to a musical formula in its story of a Polynesia girl's hero journey, but there's a reason that formula works.

The Pipeline: Seeing Through Amber Colored Lenses With Gunnar Optiks

Can a single pair of glasses help my gamer's eyes?
In all the years I've been a gamer—from my humble beginnings with the original NES and a hand-me-down ColecoVision—I've rarely given any thought or regard to my eyesight. Call it ignorance, call it failure of listening to parents, call it self-destruction—in all the years I was conquering lands in Final Fantasy or shooting down aliens in Halo, I wasn't all that preoccupied on whether I'd be able to keep seeing games down the road.

Wine Wednesday: Turkey-Friendly Thanksgiving Wines

If you’re planning to pour wine at your Thanksgiving meal, or on bringing a bottle to a restaurant, there is a mind-bending array of options available to you. Multi-dish meals like Thanksgiving provide a lot of wine pairing possibilities – too many, in some cases.

The Pipeline: An Early Turkey Day Present With MST3K's Volume XXXVII

The latest volume of hilarity from Shout! Factory just in time for the holidays.
As I write this review, the cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000  is currently in production for the episodes they raised funds for back in late 2015, slowly but surely producing much-desired comedic gold for the riffing community that has long awaited their return. November is usually an amazing time for MSTies, because the past few years have brought us both a new DVD set and Turkey Day marathons from the amazing people at Shout!

2 Girls 1 Playbill

The women behind the local theatre blog chat about the passion and reviews.
There's a lot of awesome theater happening not just in the independent companies, but all around the state. But there are times that even those involved with the art can't keep up with everything happening in town, which is where 2 Girls 1 Playbill comes in.

The Pipeline: Hacking My Way To A "Better" Society In Watch Dogs 2

Ubisoft's long awaited hacking sequel is equal parts awesome and recycled.
Back in 2014, a lot of us who enjoyed Ubisoft's games were losing our shit over Watch Dogs. We were finally getting what appeared to be a true hacker's paradise in the not too distant future, complete with a badass look and feel that made hacktivists look like major archetypal heroes.

November Gallery Stroll: Russel Daniels

A look into his photography exhibit at God Hates Robots this month.
The cold has finally settled it, but it matters little, as hundreds of people poured into the galleries of SLC to check out the latest art on display for Salt Lake Gallery Stroll. This month seemed to have more galleries on display than we've seen in a while, many of which will continue these shows through Christmas (but more on that next month).
