A lovely early spring weekend might seem like a perfect time for a stroll around downtown Salt Lake City.

But a busy Saturday for big events promises to make it a challenging day to get around.

By a quirk of scheduling, March 18 finds a four-square-block area of downtown hosting three popular events likely to draw big crowds.

At the Salt Palace Convention Center, pop culture enthusiasts will flock to Salt Lake Comic Con's spring FanX convention; Vivint Smart Home Arena hosts second round games in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament; and just across the street, the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade marches through the center of The Gateway mall.

While specific figures can only be estimates, the 2016 FanX event capped ticket sales at 50,000, organizers of the St. Patrick's day festival estimated 2016 attendance at just under 6,000 and the arena capacity is 19,000.

What are you attending and where do you plan to park?

Representatives from UTA and Downtown Alliance did not immediately respond to a request for comment about coordinating the logistics for these events.
