Although the legislative session—one marked with numerous protests—ended March 9, Dabakis told City Weekly Friday the reason for the 11th-hour rally was because HB115’s passage left legislators “dumbfounded.”

Julie Dash's 1991 Daughters of the Dust—the first film by an African-American woman director to receive U.S. distribution—gets a 25th anniversary restoration showcasing both its significance and its flaws.
