We're going to be getting something really cool in the state when Waterpocket Distillery opens soon. The married couple behind the new business is going a little more old-school with their techniques, creating gin, rum and a few other surprises that will taste like nothing else being produced in Utah.

American Health Care Act Update

House's passing of measure to repeal and replace ACA prompts SLC rally tonight.
The American Health Care Act—billed as an Obamacare replacement—was squeaked through the House of Representatives on Thursday by a 217 to 213 vote.

Fallen Angel Tattoos

Owner of SLC tattoo shop talks about the unique work they're doing for women.
Many people may not be aware, but Salt Lake City is home to a unique tattoo program handled by one specific shop: Fallen Angel Tattoos. The all-women tattoo shop has been lending its talents to helping other women who have gone through breast cancer and required reconstructive surgery, by creating beautiful art on their bodies to cover up scars.

One notable absence from her speech was any reference to the four homeless resource centers the city and the county are committed to opening in the valley to take up at least some of the bed space lost when the city plans to shutter the Rio Grande shelter in 2019.

I'd barely shuffled across 200 West toward the northwest corner of the Rio Grande downtown homeless shelter when a man approached me asking what drugs I wanted. Black for black tar heroin or white for meth or crack cocaine.
