Independence Day  events aren't the only items on Utah's A&E agenda. Here are a few more ways to spend your long weekend, or just a relaxing night.

Author Eric Hinderaker explores one of the pivotal events on the road to Americ an revolution in Boston's Massacre, revealing little-known details about the March 1770 episode. The author reads from and signs the book at The King's English Bookshop (1511 S. 1500 East, 801-484-9100, kingsenglish.com), June 29 at 7 p.m.

Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome to Egyptian Theatre Company's production of Cabaret in Park City (328 Main St., 435-649-9371, parkcityshows.com). The classic Kander & Ebb musical about the slow creep of racism and fascism, while citizens are distracted by entertainment, certainly holds no contemporary relevance. The show runs June 30 - July 23, with tickets ranging from $39-$65.

Ahead of the big patriotic celebration concert in Deer Valley, Utah Symphony visits another gorgeous outdoor venue: The Waterfall Amphitheater at Thanksgiving Point's Ashton Gardens (3900 Garden Dr., Lehi, 801-768-2300, thanksgivingpoint.org), tonight (June 28). The symphony is joined by the tenor vocal trio GENTRI. Gates 6:30, performance 8:30; reserved tickets are sold out, but general admission is still available.

What's more American than fast cars? Head out to Rocky Mountain Raceway (6555 W. 2100 South) this weekend for events including motocross, super-modified oval racing and drag-racing. There's bound to be something that's just your speed.
