A thin week at the movies ahead of the pre-Thanksgiving surge is headlined by a remake of a classic mystery, plus a documentary by a cinematic legend.

MaryAnn Johanson finds that Kenneth Branagh's all-star revisiting of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express (pictured) is pretty to look at but otherwise meaningless. French film pioneer Agnès Varda and photographer JR chronicle a community art project with joyful creativity in the documentary Faces Places.

The biopic Tom of Finland shines a light on a groundbreaking gay fetish artist, even if it's not particularly groundbreaking itself.

In this week's feature review, Eric D. Snider praises the charming, magical parallel stories of Wonderstruck.

Also opening this week, but not reviewed due to scheduling conflicts: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg awkwardly co-parenting in the comedy sequel Daddy's Home 2.
