RBG, Show Dogs, Disobedience

The wise-cracking super-anti-hero returns to multiplexes, along with some senior-focused counter-programming, while two biographical documentaries focus on two very different public figures.

Book Club (pictured) gives rare lead roles to its veteran female stars, but can't muster more to say than "lol, horny olds." Another older woman gets considerably more respect as the documentary RBG profiles Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.  Director Wim Wenders offers a glossy, feel-good look at a progressive pontiff in Pope Francis: A Man of His Word.

MaryAnn Johanson laments the feeble kid-centric spin on Miss Congeniality of Show Dogs.

David Riedel raves over the complex, heart-wrenching love triangle-of-sorts in Oscar-winner Sebastián Lelio's Disobedience.

In this week's feature review, Deadpool 2 once again finds a movie caught between making fun of comic-book blockbusters and wanting to be a comic-book blockbuster.
