nnA young driver was parked on 400 North when two other vehicles'a dark-colored car and a pickup truck'surrounded his 1994 red Honda Civic, boxing it in. The carjackers pulled the young driver out of his car, then drove away, taking the victim’s car with them.

nnLast week, two men dressed all in black and driving a Crown Vic reportedly stopped their mark and flashed a badge before frisking the victim, taking his money and sending him on his way. This week brings a report of four men dressed all in black, but with the addition of black bandanas over their faces. The robbers knocked on the door of a South McClelland Street home and when the resident opened, confronted the victim with baseball bats. Robbers took a purse and an iPod, then skedaddled.

nnA pipe bomb exploded close to a reading area with comfortable chairs at the downtown Salt Lake City Library. The blast flung a chair against a window, breaking it, but no one was injured. City police detectives, the fire department, FBI, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded to investigate.

nnA 37-year-old man had just left the market and was putting his groceries into the bed of his truck when he was approached from behind. One of two robbers held a knife to the man and demanded money. The victim gave up his cash and the suspects fled north.

nnA 24-year-old man sitting alone in the passenger seat of a car was approached by two men demanding his wallet. When he refused, both robbers pulled out knives. The victim threw up his hands to protect himself and was stabbed in the hand. The robbers took the wallet as well as the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene in a Ford F150.

nnTwo Highland High students with a longstanding beef decided to take it to the parking lot. But they only made it to the door. Each later told police the other threw the first punch. During their wrestling scuffle in the doorway, one student grabbed a pair of scissors from a nearby desk and stabbed the other. The victim was taken to the hospital.

nnUnknown suspects stopped and fired several rounds from a shotgun into a home. Police received several calls about the shots, but witnesses had little information. A window was broken. No one was injured.

nnTwo victims were sitting inside a white Jeep Grand Cherokee when shots were fired into the vehicle. Two suspects were seen driving away in a gray- or champagne-colored SUV. The passenger was cut by glass fragments. The driver was unharmed.
