Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time books make up what is perhaps the best-selling fantasy series. What was originally started by Jordan as a six-volume series grew into an 11-tome adventure, with a planned 12th aimed at bringing the ambitious saga to its climatic end.
Unfortunately, after starting The Gathering Storm, Jordan succumbed to a rare blood disease back in 2007. Not wanting to leave readers without a proper ending, Jordan’s wife and editor, Harriet MacDougal, gracefully put the project of completing the series into the capable hands of fellow fantasy writer, Brandon Sanderson (author of the bestselling Mistborn books). Now, nearly two decades after Jordan’s initial book was published, Sanderson delivers what is to be the first of three volumes aimed at bringing Jordan’s extraordinary fantasy saga to a fittingly dramatic end.
