Christmas is, by far, the hardest holiday to shop for—not just by figuring out people’s tastes, but in price as well. And driving around in the cold, gray weather doesn’t help, either.

Craft Sabbath got the idea of opening its own holiday boutique every year after declaring that buying gift cards and impersonal items is a terrible faux pas. Mind you, theirs is no ordinary craft display. Today (and again on Dec. 12), the artist co-op will take over the entire promenade of the Salt Lake City Main Library, bringing in familiar faces and one-off appearances to help you decide exactly what to get those hard-to-shop-for people.

Besides the usual array of crocheted, felted, recycled and bedazzled items, you’ll find bags screen-printed by Miss Amanda, specialty earrings from Sarah de Azevedo, “Not-Ready-For-Skin” tattoos, and a pair of refugee families making surprise items at each event. And, of course, Santa will make an appearance.

Craft Sabbath @ Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, 801-524-8200, Dec. 5 & 12, 1-5 p.m., free. CraftSabbath.com
