Ramen Pop-Up
Fiana Bistro chef/proprietor Brandon Edward Price and foodie/cook/KUER producer Benjamin Bombard are teaming up on Friday, Dec. 13, to host a unique dinner at Enko Pop-up Restaurant. The evening will feature a prix fixe $15 menu and includes pork or vegetable gyoza, made-from-scratch ramen soup (traditional tonkotsu, veggie shio or a shoyu house bowl), plus yuzu sorbet and green tea ice cream. Beverages are BYOB, and Japanese samurai cinema will be playing on a big-screen TV throughout the evening. The Enko dinner will take place at Fiana Bistro, which is located in the James LeVoy Sorenson Molecular Biotechnology Building on the University of Utah campus (36 S. Wasatch Drive). Reservations are not necessary. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and, according to Bombard, “We’ll fill bellies—50 to 65 of them—with noodle soup until it’s 86’d.” You’ll find Enko Pop-up Restaurant on Facebook.

Snowbird Series
2014 is shaping up to be a terrific year for wine, spirits and beer lovers, especially at Snowbird Resort. According to Frederic Barbier, director of fine dining, Snowbird has 10 wine, spirits or beer dinners scheduled for this winter season, beginning with Joel Gott Wines at The Aerie on Jan. 11, followed by Red Rock Brewery with brewmaster Kevin Templin at the Lodge Bistro on Jan. 18. Additional venues include 7 Summits and the Steak Pit restaurant, which will feature Zapaltas Wines, High West Distillery, Dutton-Goldfield Winery, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Silver Oak Cellars, Trinchero Family Estate Wines, Glenfiddich and Cline Cellars. All dinners will begin with cocktails and appetizers at 6:30 p.m., followed by a four-course dinner at 7. The price is to be determined—stay tuned here and at Snowbird.com for further details.

Burgers + Bourbon = Montage
Deer Valley’s Montage Resort is sporting a fun new eatery for the 2013/2014 ski season, called Burgers & Bourbon. The restaurant will serve gourmet burgers, hand-spun milkshakes, fresh-cut fries, and more than 60 varieties of bourbons and American whiskeys. I’ll be visiting Burgers & Bourbon soon and will report back. MontageDeerValley.com
