The National Tongan American Society presents Friendly Island Festival 2009, a four-day celebration of the music, arts and culture of the Tongan islands. Bringing the community together, this festival gives Utah a taste of the rich and abiding friendliness of the Tongan people, all while providing activities and performances.

Starting Wednesday is the Miss Tonga Utah Pageant followed by a rugby/volleyball kick off and cultural performances on Thursday, rugby and volleyball games continue through Friday, as well as live music by Foni Pole’o. The festival will conclude Saturday with a full line-up, including artistic performances, while rugby and volleyball championships, an award-ceremony and live music. Also featured are food and craft booths whet your appetite for Tongan cuisine and art. Admission is free, so come to learn about island traditions and mingle with Tongan culture.
