Downtown Salt Lake City has been awaiting the return of a regular live comedy venue since the Wiseguys Trolley Square location closed earlier this year. And now Wiseguys is back, in the bright, shiny new Broadway Media building on 300 South downtown. The new Wiseguys venue launches this weekend with headliner Joe Machi. The Pennsylvania native has only been performing comedy for eight years, but has already accumulated honors including winning the New York Underground Comedy Festival's Emerging Comic competition, the "Elite 8" in Caroline's March Madness Comedy Competition, the Boston Comedy Festival, and appearing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Help celebrate the venue's opening, and keep an eye on the 2015 calendar for such notable headliners as Pauly Shore, Brian Posehn and Demetri Martin. (Scott Renshaw) He got his start in comedy in 2006 at The Comic Strip as one of the comedians who performs after the end of the regular show. He got his first regular paid spot a few years later at The Comic Strip, where famed funnyman Chris Rock also got his start. Commanding the attention of audiences wherever he goes, Machi won the NY Underground Comedy Fest's Emerging Comics contest. He performed on the New Faces Unrepped showcase at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and appeared on Howie Mandel's showcase, televised on Canada's CBC network. He began performing as "frightened correspondent Joe Machi" on "Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld" on Fox News in 2013.
