Whereas some comics experience a heyday and then disappear, John Pinette has managed to stay fairly steady throughout his 13-year career. Focusing almost entirely on his own life experiences, his comedy is, and always has been, a venting session for all the things that frustrate him. Pinette’s most memorable feature has always been his obesity and the obsession he has with everything related to food. His jokes are so honest and funny, though, that the audience can’t help but get over any political incorrectness and start to have fun.
In 1999, he won “Stand-Up Comedian of the Year” at the American Comedy Awards. He then forever stamped his place in history by landing a very small but memorable role in the final episode of Seinfeld. With five comedy specials—one released this year—Pinette definitely knows how to entertain, and has just the right mix of self-deprecation and baby face to get Wiseguys rolling in the aisles.
