King Cardinal performs at Burt's tonight, playing songs of their debut EP. Also on the ticket is Matthew and the Hope.
Following in the alt-folk footsteps of Greg Brown and Sufjan Stevens, King Cardinal’s debut EP marries solid, simple songwriting with mature instrumentation resulting in a set of songs perfect for nesting at home, or nursing a broken heart.
With subtle fingerpicking, serene violins, and confessional lyrics, each song captures the space between asleep and awake—intertwining strings and an occasional harmonica produce an aura that is both peaceful and pensive.
