Local business offer September discounts to Salt Lake City Library cardholders

Salt Lakers with a city library card are eligible for discounts at more than two dozen local retailers and attractions during the month of September, library officials announced Wednesday.

The promotion is part of a month-long campaign encouraging residents to sign up for a library card, which are free to individuals who live within city boundaries. More information on obtaining a library card can be found at slcpl.org/library-card.

"Cardholders can borrow books, graphic novels, manga, DVDs and Blu-rays and more, all with zero late fees," the library's announcement stated. "Cardholders can also use the free databases and subscriptions available online through the Digital Library, where they can borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines."

As part of the promotion, library cardholders are eligible for a 10% discount at Beans & Brews (four SLC locations), Bruges Belgian Bistro (two locations), Chez Nibs, Grounded, Honest Eatery, Matcha Cafe Kyoto, Nothing Bundt Cakes on Foothill Drive, Picnic Cafe, The Red Moose Cafe, Santo Taco, Xiao Bao Bao, Yes! Yes! Coffee, Black Cat Comics, The King's English, The Legendarium, Lovebound Library, Marissa's Books & Gifts, Oasis Games, Pib's Exchange, Salt & Honey Market; Trek Bicycle; Torrey House Press and Under the Umbrella Bookstore.

Discounts of various amounts are also available at The School of Dance, Simons Somatics and Massage, SLC Qi Community Acupuncture, the Natural History Museum of Utah (NHMU), This is the Place Heritage Park and Tracy Aviary.

"Look for signs and posters at local businesses, show your card, keychain, or digital card via the SLCPL app," the announcement stated. "Patrons can support local businesses and show love for your City Library!"
