This weekend, teams of two will run with fervor around downtown in a heated but friendly bout of competition, Amazing Race-style. While the television show is centered on the interesting, and sometimes tense, duo dynamics, the Scram is centered on sustainability and fun. All clues and obstacles will relate to eco-living and the Live Green SLC! Festival, held at Library Square the same day (Read Article).

Clues might lead to historical sites, independent stores or prominent geographical features. All will challenge participants’ wit and maybe even their self-consciousness. Details of what the challenges will be are under tight wraps until competition time.

The Scram, sponsored by The Downtown Alliance, SLUG Magazine and Salt Lake City Main Library, in its third installment is now open to adults, instead of strictly teens. Those under 18 need a consent form. It’s expected to take about two hours to finish, with winning teams being awarded a generous assortment of prizes.

Spring Scram @ Downtown Salt Lake City, starting at Library Square, 210 E. 400 South, 801-524-8200, May 8, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., free. SLCPL.lib.ut.us
