Star Wars Day

When: Mon., May 4, 6-9 p.m. 2015
Urban Arts Gallery, in partnership with Salt Lake Comic Con, will present a whimsical art exhibition this May that examines the effects of George Lucas’s sci-fi franchise on Pop Art forty years on; and continues with a look at Heroes & Villains in our imagination and art. The exhibition comes ahead of the annual Salt Lake Comic Con in September and the release of the next Star Wars film in the iconic series later this year.

First up, Monday, May 4 from 6-9pm, is Star Wars Day ("May the Fourth be with you..."), and marks the opening of our annual exhibit of Star Wars-related art. Included will be an artist reception, Star Wars Costume Contest with prizes, screening of the original 1977 film (Episode IV: A New Hope), and a special appearance by Darth Vader and the 501st Legion - the legendary cosplaying organization that dress up as Imperial Storm Troopers. It will be an amazing opportunity for photos and video of SLC’s vibrant sci-fi community out en mass!

The Urban Arts Gallery is located inside the Gateway Mall on the south end under the bridge by the theaters at 137 S Rio Grande St.
