With a passion to fight childhood hunger, more than 50 of Utah’s hottest chefs and restaurants will gather at Solitude Mountain Resort for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Utah, the state’s most delectable culinary benefit. Taste of the Nation Utah will raise critical funds needed to support Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger in Utah and across the nation. The 2010 event is on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Solitude Mountain Resort, 12 to 4 p.m.

More than 1,500 expected attendees will participate in this gastronomic feast while enjoying fine cuisine from restaurants such as Stein Erikson Lodge’s Glitretind, Meditrina, Bambara, Red Iguana, Garden Café at Grand America, Metropolitan, Donovan’s Steak & Chop House and many more. More than 15 pastry chefs will share their delights in the infamous Dessert Booth with samplings of cupcakes, panna cotta, petit fours, tarts, chocolate dipped fruit and cookies. Guests will also enjoy live music, a silent auction which includes weekend getaways, art and jewelry and fabulous dining experiences including the chefs themselves, some of whom will offer to prepare a five-course meal for you and eight of your closest friends. As always, I’ll be hosting the live auction and, possibly, sitting in with the beloved Stoddard Brothers.

Ticket sales and funds raised at the event will benefit Utah Food Bank Services, Utahns Against Hunger and The Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership. Since 1998, Taste of the Nation Utah has raised more than $644,000 for local anti-hunger and anti-poverty organizations, and is nationally sponsored by American Express, Sysco, Food Network, and sponsored locally by Solitude Mountain Resort. One hundred percent of ticket sales help ensure that no kid in America grows up hungry.

Tickets for Taste of the Nation Utah are $75 for general admission and $125 for VIP reserved seating, if purchased in advance. Group discounts are available. Tickets can be purchased online at TasteoftheNation.org/utah, or by calling 801-328-2561.

Tickets are also available at Liberty Heights Fresh at 1242 S. 1100 East, Salt Lake City and Snider Brothers Meats, 6245 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. For more information, go to strength.org/utah
