Mitt Romney finally gave his Kennedy-style faith speech explaining why a Mormon president would not answer to the prophet—perhaps to pacify evangelical Christian voters in the south. City Weekly asked Clayton Williams of Williams Fine Art for his reaction:
He was very straightforward about his relationship to his religion. I felt like he said he would look first to the office of being president and that would guide his decisions vs. any religious comment or opinion. He would be a president responding to the Constitution and following his conscience … being loyal to the people.
