Thigh High SciFi: Try-Angles & The Matrons of Mayhem
January and February can be “dead months” in clubs, a Matron of Mayhem said as the Matrons were setting up their screen for Thigh High SciFi at Club Try-Angles (900 S. 251 West). The idea, then, is to give fans of drag and dramatic science fiction a venue to enjoy campy sci-fi films and shows like Flash Gordon and Doctor Who every Wednesday until the end of February. Ruby Ridge and The Matrons of Mayhem, an extravagantly fabulous drag troupe known for its charity fundraising and bingo at the First Baptist Church, will be on hand to help you enjoy the films for only a $2 cover. Different themed drinks will be available each night to help liven things up even more.

Going Out West: The Westerner
The Westerner
(3360 S. Redwood Road) may be the only venue in or near Salt Lake City that has the words “Dance Hall, Bar & Grill” on their logo, and that’s for good reason: The venue provides an old-fashioned get-down good time. Any night is a good night to try your hand at being a cowboy—or at least being drunk enough to swagger around like a man who just finished riding the range—but, on Fridays, the fun gets serious with free line-dancing classes from 7-9 p.m.

S.I.N.: Downstairs PC
Working at a bar in Park City can be thankless, especially when there is no snow and no customer base; fortunately for the city, the Sundance Film Festival will soon be going down. It pays to relax beforehand, so enjoy the Downstairs (625 S. Main) service -industry night every Wednesday. We’re hoping service-industry staff from SLC are welcome, too, and that nightlife columnists can get hooked up with a drink or two. Just a thought.
