Projected DVD: Yeah, it’ll do in a pinch. But for its “Summer of 35,” the Salt Lake Film Society has gone throwback.

The Tower Theatre rolls into the second month of a summer weekend series with Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece Rear Window, the terrifically claustrophobic tale of a house-bound man (Jimmy Stewart) who may have witnessed a murder in the apartment across the street. Like all of the late-night summer selections, it will be presented on wonderful 35mm film—and there’s plenty more where this week’s entry came from. In coming weeks, you could catch The Big Lebowski, Some Like It Hot, the original Alien, George Lucas’s THX-1138 and Brian DePalma’s Scarface, among others.

Late-night movies have been a staple at the Tower Theatre for years, but the tradition has gone seasonal over the last couple of years. Catch a classic in 35mm when you have the chance.
